What I Believe as a Follower of Jesus

What I Believe

Society is increasingly aggressive in its campaign for tolerance and bold faith is becoming harder to find. Unlike lukewarm faith, bold faith stands up for what God says is right and wrong and understands that following Christ will cost something. Additionally, it speaks up knowing it will be attacked stands on the Word of God for everything, and says “no” to the world’s tolerance of sin.

Despite this type of faith feeling uncomfortable, and sometimes lonely, it’s also invigorating, life-changing, soul cleansing, and passion fueling.

As a follower of Christ I Believe…

The Bible is God’s Word and absolute truth. (2 Timothy 3:16, John 17:17, Proverbs 30:5)

Jesus Christ is God’s perfect, sinless Son. (John 3:16, Luke 4:41)

Christ died for our sins and those who believe in Him are forgiven and have eternal life. (1 Peter 2:24, 6:23)

Marriage is between a man and a woman. (Genesis 2:24, 1 Corinthians 7:22)

Sex is an act between a man and woman and is reserved for marriage. (1 Timothy 1:10, Romans 1:26-27)

Abortion is wrong in all circumstances. (Exodus 20:13, Deuteronomy 27:25)

There are two genders: male and female. (Genesis 1:27, Mark 10:6-9)

Everyone on the planet has a unique purpose. (Jeremiah 29:11)

No life is too messy for Jesus to heal, restore, and clean up.  (Psalm 103:10-12)

Our past mistakes and our current struggles don’t define who we are. (Galatians 2:20)

We can choose joy no matter our circumstances. (James 1:2-4)

Above all, our purpose is to speak truth with grace, to stand up for morality, to stand firm on and for God’s Word, to not waiver or water down the gospel, and to share the hope and love of Jesus with as many people as possible before we are called home. This is bold faith in action and what it means to love people.
